The Dairy Barn or milking barn was built in the 1890s at a size of 60 x 114 feet. This structure, like the Horse and Mule Barn, was built as a “bank barn” meaning an earthen ramp allowed walking or driving into the loft. The ground floor is built of native limestone quarried on the farm and has enough milking stanchions to milk 100 cows. The milking barn was sanitary with its painted white walls and ceiling. The concrete floor has a built-in gutter which carried all the waste water from the barn. All solid waste was removed using a steel trolley system which emptied into a manure spreader. The manure was then distributed over the farm fields. Water from the spring at the creamery was piped underground to be used at the barn. This barn also has a silo at each end, allowing the workers to have easy access to the ensilage which was fed to the cows.
